Go Tell It on the Mountain, Over the Hills, and Everywhere!

'Go tell it on the mountain, over the hills, and everywhere!'
That''s a song I just finished listening to, done by BarlowGirl today. Do you know what you're supposed to go tell on the mountain? If you don't.....well, I guess it's about time you did. Let me finish that song line for you.
'Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!'
Did you pick that up? Jesus is born! Praise God with song and dancing! Joy to the world! Worship the Lord! Exalt Him! Go tell it on the mountain! (Over the hills, and everywhere) Celebrate the birth of His Son! I don't know if you feel like celebrating and having a party, but I sure do. That's why we celebrate Christmas! We're celebrating the birth of God's son, Jesus! And we give gifts to each other because Jesus was God's gift to us. But the Santa bringing presents to boys and girls and buying the most expensive gifts thing took over, so some people forget that we're actually celebrating the gift of Jesus. The thing that confuses me, though, is that Santa only brings presents to girls and boys who have been good this year, but Jesus came for everyone in the world, not only the ones who were good that year. So tomorrow and the day after that, and all the days of your life, remember what the reason of Christmas is, and let everyone know about it.
Have a wonderful Christmas! God bless you all!

"Autumn Time is here, happiness and cheer...."

Guess what time it is? No, really. Guess. Well, I'll just tell you anyway! It's fall! We got our first cold snap on my birthday! I'm thinking of it as a birthday present from God. Isn't He sweet. We normally don't get fall colors on the trees until the end of November, but this time we got it late October! A cold front has just come through, so right now the highs are in the 70's, and tonight it's going to be 45 degrees! The new weather has made everyone happier since it came. I know that it is a blessing from God, and that He is the only one we should thank. Speaking of thanking, isn't Thanksgiving coming up?

Hmmm....

Well, it's 9:35 PM on a Monday night, awaiting the time of sleep. Sitting at a bright-screened monitor. Writing. So, there must be something I'm writing about, if I didn't want to waste a post. But maybe I did. Maybe I DID want to waste a post. Maybe I wanted to to just type random words, wasting post after post,  word after word, letter after letter, keystroke after keystroke. But what's the matter with writing for no apparent reason? There's no law against it. It's not forbidden. It's a free country, isn't it? Who says I can't? Nobody in this country says that a ten-year-old girl named Ally can't write just because she wants to. Maybe I wanted to waste a post! Maybe I didn't even know what was I writing about! Maybe I wanted to just write about something totally random! Well, truth is, I didn't. What I really wanted to tell you about is..........I'm going to be eleven in two days! Yay! Woo-hoo!  ....... Well, while that thought is resting on your brain, I'm going to get some ZZZZzzz's.

New Kitten!

Three days ago, on our way home from theater rehearsal, we heard a mewing kitten while our car was stopped. My older sister, Erin, went across the street and coaxed a small, black kitten out from behind a garbage can. She picked him up and brought him to the car. He didn't even fight her to try to get down, he just sat there against her neck, and my mom said to 'Get in the car with the cat'. She brought him inside, and we brought him home. We set out a food and water bowl, and he ate a piece of food, then crawled under our school table. He slept, and the next morning he was out and about! Even though he has a hurt leg, he still plays and runs like a normal kitten. His name is Skittles.

You Can Always Turn to God

Psalm 18:2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I will take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.
This is a verse that I saw on my Psalm for the Day gadget on my blog. It reminded me of how we can always go to God when we are fearful, sad, angry, or even happy and want to thank Him. He will never leave, never disappear, never stop loving us, and never turn His back on us. He is one amazing, praiseworthy, awesome, powerful, and loving God.
      Just wanted to share that.

Ocean

The big blue.
Sun rises.
Good morning, ocean.
Fog covers the water like a blanket.
Small, lapping waves wet the shore.
A light breeze starts to blow.
Sound of calling seagulls.
Wind makes waves a little bigger.
Good afternoon, ocean.
Millions of creatures, big and small
Living just beneath the surface.
Tiny, silvery minnows dwell in shallow water.
Enormous sharks abide in the depths.
Cool off your feet in the icy water.
Feel squishy, cold sand through your toes.
Good evening, ocean.
Sunlight dances upon the water.
Everything in sight has a golden glow.
Step out of the ocean world.
Enjoy the beauties that God has created.
Including the big blue.
Goodnight, ocean.

Chattanooga Tornado Relief Mission Trip!

Just got back from a tornado relief mission trip to Chattanooga last night! Had a great team who worked hard even in the heat! (Which was, all day, 98 degrees to 101 degrees)Our team consisted of: Melinda Holloway (Mom), Herb Holloway (Dad), Casey Holloway (sister), Erin Holloway (sister), Tony Trinh, Erica St. Germain, and William Schmidt. Look at Mom's (Melinda Holloway's) Facebook page to see all of the pictures! I felt we had shined the light of Jesus and touched many hearts. And thank you God for putting these amazing people in my life: Tony Trinh, Erica St. Germain, William Schmidt, Nelda Thompson, Jim Thompson, and Harry Ensley. I'm glad to be home, but I would do it all over again tomorrow. :)

Yep. You've All Had It

Writers Block. (And yes, I do have to capitalize it to make it sound more intimidating.)I know all you writers have had it at least twice in your life. The time where you know what you want to say, you just don't know what you want to say. All you writers will probably say, "Pish-posh, what are you talking about? I always know what I want to say." But it's OK if you've had writers block because everyone has had it at least twice in their life. (I know I just said that, but I wanted to make sure no one missed it.) So whether you're writing a book, a paper, a story, or any kind of word assembly, you can always remember, uh, you can always remember, always rememmer...Well, just don't let it get you down when you have writers block, K? OK.

Oh, Wonderful Saturday

Today is Saturday! Yep, that means no school, reading and writing all day, and a yummy breakfast. Yum.... Right now my dad is making fluffy whole-wheat waddles- oops! Meant to write waffles. I was trying to not look at the keys. OK, whole-wheat WAFFLES, and yummy sausage. I love Saturday breakfast.
My older sister is coming home from an art weekend with my great aunt in a few hours. She's learning AP (advanced placement) material for art. My great aunt is a really good artist, and my sister, Erin, is being taught by her. She's already done an oil painting of colored glass bottles on fabric. It looks really good. I'm so proud of her. I think she'll be a famous artist someday.

Lemonade Day!

Lemonade Day is tomorrow! Lemonade Day is an organization that teaches kids about business and entrepreneurship. Kids all around the country set up lemonade stands at all different places. I am one of the many kids who are doing this. I am having a lemonade stand called Pure Taste tomorrow from 10:30 to 3:00. I am going to have four different flavors: All-natural Lemonade, Grape Lemonade, Watermelon Lemonade, and Sugar-free All-natural lemonade. I invite all people to come and get a delicious ice-cold lemonade!

Just a Thought

Here I am, sitting at my desk,
Thinking, thinking, I couldn't think less
Twirling milk chocolate hair
Through gentle hands,
Thinking about great fantasy lands
Colored horses, fairies with powers,
While sitting upon giant flowers
The ability to fly and to sit on a cloud,
And greeting the King with a graceful bow
Talking to birds, and other creatures above,
Speaking about His wondrous love
Brought back to earth, hearing a call,
"Yeah, Mom, I'll vacuum the hall."

Thursday Thunder

Well, you might think it's raining here, but it's not. Thunder was the only word that started with "th" to go with Thursday that I could think of, except: the, thinking, thorough,.....well, maybe I just didn't think hard enough.
Actually, today is pretty sunny. So you can tease me all you want, because I know that sun is the total opposite of thunder.
My Dad and I are going to FUN Camp this weekend. Well, tomorrow, I guess. Man, I'm really dumb today. Anyway, it's an outdoor camp for fathers and their kids. My sister, Erin has gone there two times, one after the other. Or twice in a row. OK, this is starting to bother me. OK, back to the subject, you and your dad go fishing, do archery, shooting, canoeing, etc. It's a really FUN Camp. That was a lame joke, I know. But at the camp, the first night you sleep in bunk-beds in a dorm-like room, then the next night you sleep in a tent outside. It sounds amazing. Here's the link to it: http://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/search/node/fun%20camp%202011
Just click on the "FUN Camp" link and you can look at the page.
I seriously cannot wait.

Crawfish Boil

Yesterday I went to my Grandfather's Annual Crawfish Boil. Only this time we had crawfish, crabs, fried catfish, and french fries. Oh how I love this day. Almost the whole family was there. 16 out of 19 grand and great-grandchildren.The whole Hinson family. I mean you know, at least my MOM'S family. Our family is the Holloway family.:)
So yes, I do love this time of year. But it also means.....getting ready for the SUMMER!

Oh, Dear Homeschooling

I love being home-schooled. Fifteen minutes ago (which was by the way 2:13 PM) I was sitting in a coffee shop enjoying a delectable bagel with cream cheese. Yum. Really, I mean what public or private-schooled kid gets to do that on a Tuesday afternoon? And what public or private-schooled kid gets to have a North Carolina BBQ Sandwich, after getting out of Book club at the Library? I mean, really. I just love being home-schooled. I just really, really do.

Sisters' Night Out

Last night I and my sister, Erin, went to the mall for some fun shopping. Our parents went to Books-a-Million, and we went to Charming Charlie, Maurices, and Claire's. We took lots of pictures, and I got these cute dinosaur earrings. I also got a cute new haircut!
We had a very fun 'young women' time!

Tips on Coffee

Well, this IS another coffee post, but you'll just have to understand that I love coffee.
OK, here are three random tips about coffee:
#1: When you have coffee in a cute little mug, sit on the couch, read, and most of all: Wear fuzzy socks.
#2: If it is study time, sit at a desk with a goose neck lamp, and occasionally sip your hot coffee.
#3: If you are just hanging out with a couple of friends, or just pampering yourself, make yourself an iced mocha.
**Bonus tip: Try the new Almond Joy liquid creamer. It's pure amazing-est-ness. Also, don't be afraid to try new things.....because anything is possible with coffee.

Poem of Spring

Spring

Flowers bud through the ground,
This is when Spring comes around.
All the birds chirp in the air,
Beauty lies everywhere.
Chipmunks and squirrels skip and scatter,
While the April showers go plip, plop, patter.
Cool air, flowers, new trees, and deer,
Are all part of Spring, that now is here.

Hope you like it!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Happy St Patrick's Day!
Hope y'all had a wonderful day. My sister and I made Colcannon, we had a big Shamrock centerpiece....oh, I love my family. Although we aren't Catholic, we can still have Colcannon, green biscuits, a shamrock centerpiece, all wear green, and say, "Happy St. Patrick's Day!", can't we? I love being with my family, and I hope you do too. Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Oh, Coffee, How I Love Thee

Right now I'm at PJ's, enjoying a Hazelnut Granita, and doing my school...well, I WAS doing my school, but now I'm finished, and writing on my blog! :) My sister Casey is studying for a Physics Exam....yuck. When I just look at her notebook, that's what I think....yuck. She said, "Whenever I want to know that I'm smart, I just look through my notebook, and think, 'Wow, I wrote this!" I just had to do a problem that was so easy, but I thought it was hard, so I asked Casey to help me, and I took about 10 minutes to find out that the answer was just 1/3. I took a sip of my Granita, and it made me feel all better. How I love coffee. :)

My Tree

Well, I've had "My Tree" that I always climb in my back yard. I love going up there, because I feel close to God there. I have a water-proof Band-AID packet in case I get any scrapes or cuts, a water-proof vase that I put flowers in every day, a side-to-side elevator (that's actually a bird feeder), and a prayer box, that's a cardboard 2 1/2 inch box with a lid, that I painted and sealed both the top and the lid. Every week, or every few days or so, I'll write a prayer on a small piece of paper, fold it up, and put it in my prayer box. After a while, I'll go back and read all of my prayers. You might think I just "like going up there", but, I REALLY love going up there, either doing my school, or just thinking while I sit. "Everyone needs their retreat." Said Mom. So whatever your personality, always try to find somewhere that can be a thinking place, a working place, a reading place, simply a retreat.

Coffee Dreams of Chocolate

Hi there! Well, the title has nothing to do with anything, but I thought of it, and I liked it, so I put it. :) But since I put it, maybe I can write about it. So, coffee dreams of chocolate. But what about Vanilla? And Caramel? I don't think coffee should pick favorites. Even though, I admit, coffee does go well with chocolate.
Well, March 1st was my older brother's birthday! Happy Birthday, Caleb! Wow, there's all great ages this year! 21, 18, 16, and I'll be.....11. Ok, so maybe not all great ages, but I'll get there eventually.
I actually didn't know what I was going to write about, I just wanted to write.
Write. The word makes me tingle with wonder and joy. Write. What can I write about this time? Write. No one can stop me from doing it. Write. What possibilities are there out in the world of words. Write.
I just felt like writing that. :)
I found this video (of my favorite character on YouTube) and it really made me laugh out loud, so I wanted to share it. Look at the post before this, and you. too will get your daily Laugh out loud. Enjoy! :)

Something to Think About

Just a few days ago, me and my mom were talking about how our Great-great-great grandchildren will be looking back at our old letters, journals, pictures.......and they'll be saying, "Wow! I really want to find out about my Great-great-great grandmother!" "By then," quoting my mom, " they won't even know what a book is, what a newspaper is...they won't know about the comforts of life "back in our time" are." They'll be living in a world of technology......without knowing the comfort of holding a Bible in their hands. I'm just praying that God will let me teach my kids about the comforts of "my time", and they'll teach their kids, and their kids.....so on, so on.... God has made a wonderful world, let's not change what He has created.

Long time, no see!

Hello, again! Long time, no see! I'd like to make a special request. Please everyone who reads this blog....please pray that my second cousin Bryan will get better soon. He's turned blind, and every time he wakes up from a nap, his wife has to explain to him who he is, where he is, that he has a three year old, a one-month year-old baby, basically everything about him. Please pray that God would heal him quickly, and to return his short-term memory. Thank you!
